An encapsulated pressure gas insulated, h.v. cable has external corrosion protection for the welded joint effected from the inside in addition to the welding itself. The encapsulation is formed by telescope tubes welded at the ends and coated by an external corrosion protection layer. Each tube (4,5) forming the encapsulation (3) is joined at the end with a sleeve (8) of larger dia. The sleeve is made from corrosion-resistant material. It is welded to the next tube along extending over the edge. It covers the edge of the corrosion protection layer. The annular space (17) between the sleeve and the wall is filled with corrosion-protection material.
