A system for constructing boat hulls by assembling a series of hollow profiles to fit curvatures imposed by the edges of a limited number of transverse formers and bulkheads (plus transom, keel and stem profiles) involves use of a series of 'U' profile clamps, pref. made of spring steel, carrying threaded rods which can project various distances to converge upon the required simple or complex hull curvature form. The edges of the hollow profiles which form the core of the hull walls engage semi-positively, by having radiused edges which locate in 'V' faces on the edges of the adjacent profile: asymmetric profiles may be mounted head-to-tail or profiles with twin 'V' edges may be assembled via tubular profiles, esp. where a sharp change of chine is reqd. The profiles are bonded or fused at intervals to each other and to the edges of the formers, and the interstices of the radiused/'V' profile joints are filled in with reinforced resin to obtain flush internal and external hull wall faces. Suitable for producing a wide variety of boat hull sizes and shapes without involving costly complete individual negative moulds.
|
