PURPOSE:To prevent the overcharging of the toner and widen a permissible development range by treating or coating the surface of a developing sleeve with an aromatic crboxylic acid or its ester or amide. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a developing sleeve is treated or coated with the compound expressed by the general formula I (R is hydrogen atom, halogen atom, nitro group, cyano group, carboxy group, hydroxy group, mercapto group or sulfo group, R' is hydroxy group, respectively substituted and unsubstituted alkoxy group or amino group, (m) is 1 or 2 and (n) is integers of 1-5). Said compound is contained within a range of 0.5-10pts.wt., more preferably, 1-5pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. of resin. In ths case, for example, 100pts.wt. a styrene-methyl methacrylate resin, 15pts.wt. hydrophobic silica, 3.5pts.wt. said compound, 250pts.wt. toluene, and 50pts.wt. methyl ethyl ketone are dispersed in a ball mill, and the mixture is coated on the surface of a brass-made developing sleeve, followed by drying. Stable images are obtained by using the sleeve prepared in this way. |
