PURPOSE:To display the solid image of the object as if it is projected to the space suddenly, by controlling the liquid crystal shutter electrically in the stereoscopic image display device where the stereoscopic glasses and the liquid crystal shutter are combined. CONSTITUTION:In stereoscopic glasses 1, concave faces of parabola mirrors or spherical mirrors 1a and 1b are opposite to each other, and apertures 4a and 4b are formed in the center of concave mirrors 1a and 1b respectively, and when object 12 is arranged for aperture 4b, it is reflected once by concave faces 1a and 1b respectively, and solid image 3 inverted horizontally is formed through aperture 4a. In a special arrangement, concave faces 1a and 1b are made into continuous single concave face 14. Objects 2a-2d are arranged on turret 13 and are display selectively. Liquid crystal shutter 5 which controls passage of the light beam is arranged in aperture 4a. The shutter has the structure where twist nematic liquid crystal plate 6 is held between polarizer 7 and photodetector 8, and the transmission light is controlled by the applied voltage. |
