PURPOSE:An antirheumatic agent containing a specific benzopyranopyridine compound as an active constituent. CONSTITUTION:An antirheumatic agent containing 9-chloro-5-oxo-7-( 1H-tetrazol- 5-yl )-5H-[1]benzopyrano[2,3-b]pyridine, a salt and/or hydrate thereof as an active constituent. The compound well known as an antiallergic and an antiasthmatic agent has been found to have a remarkable antirheumatic action and a low toxicity. The agent improves the clinical symptom of chronic rheumarthritis and also various immunological parameters, therefore, is useful for the remedy of the chronic rheumarthritis.
