NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I (R1 is 1-4C alkyl). EXAMPLE:5-(N-methylaminoethoxy)carbacrol. USE:A telangiectatic agent, hypotensor, ameliorant of cerebral circulatory metabolism, and antasthmatic. PROCESS:A compound shown by the formula II (R2 is H, 1-4C alkyl, or halogen) is hydrogenated in a solvent, e.g., methyl alcohol, etc. in the presence of a reduction catalyst (e.g., palladium-carbon, palladium oxide, platinum oxide, etc.) and subjected to debenzylation, to give a compound shwon by the formula I. The reaction temperature is room temperature to 70 deg.C.
