<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the rim part of a steering wheel from vibration by a method wherein the rim part is made hollow and in this hollow space is sealed viscous liquid. CONSTITUTION:The rim part 3 of the steering wheel is composed of a hollow tube 5 as a core bar and an outer cover 6. This hollow tube is provided with openings 7, 8 and a telescopic cap 9 is fixed on the opening 8. The viscous liquid 10 is injected from the opening 7 and then the opening 7 is shut by a plug 11. The expansion of the liquid 10 due to temperature is absorbed by the cap 9. With regard to the relative motion of the liquid 10 to fine vibrations occurring in the hollow tube 5, resistance due to the viscosity of the liquid 10 acts over the range of the internal wall of the hollow tube 5 to the center thereof, between the interval wall of the hollow tube 5 and the liquid 10 and between molecules of the liquid 10. This resistance operates as an absorber and restricts the fine vibration in the rim part 3.</p> |
