<p>PURPOSE:To improve wear resistance and to make it possible to use the magnetic recording medium at a high temperature and low temperature, by adding a specific additive into its magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:To a magnetic layer, ester of stearic acid and general formula (CH3)2CH-(CH2)n-OH (n; an integer between 1-5) or said ester plus ester of stearic acid and general formula CH3-(CH2)n-CH2OH (n; an integer between 2 and 4) is added as an about 0.2-25wt% lubricant based on magnetic powder, respectively. As example of these esters, isobutyl stearate, isoamyl stearate, isohexyl stearate, isoheptyl stearate, isooctyl stearate, a mixture of equivalent amount of isoamyl stearate and n-hexyl stearate, a mixture of equivalent amount of isoamyl stearate and n-butyl stearate, etc. are used.</p> |
