The pipe laying platform has a submerged part with side motion propellers and supporting a number of pillars (1). The pillars are joined together at the top and two structures are joined together by a bridge. Two brackets carry a shaft (4) which supports a swivel arm (10) extending at an angle down into the sea. The pipe is aligned in a trough (6) with the extended pipeline (12) and the pipe is transferred from the top to the bottom of the arm or rails. The work platform (11) is mounted at one end of the rig.
