PURPOSE:To carry out uniform heating and cooling of the strip by a method wherein an end part of a lower side edge of the strip in a vertical direction is conveyed while supported by a roller and fall-down of the strip is regulated by injecting a fluid to prevent the meandering and the fall-down of said strip. CONSTITUTION:In conveying and heat treating the strip in such a condition that a plate width direction is arranged vertically, the end part 16 of the lower side edge of the strip is subjected to position regulation by the roller 15 while hot or cold air is injected from a plenum chamber 8 and light wt. of the strip is supported by the roller 15. During conveying, when the strip is falling down to a plate thickness direction (a Y direction), static pressure is increased by the access of an injection surface 9 of hot or cold air from the plenum chamber 8 on one side and the strip 5 and the static pressure between the plenum chamber 8 on the other side and the strip 5 is decreased. By the resultant force, the strip is returned to a vertical condition. |
