<p>1426988 Graft polymer/vinyl chloride polymer compositions KANEGAFUCHI CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES CO Ltd 24 July 1974 [25 July 1973] 32763/74 Heading C3G A composition comprises (1) from 50 to 97 parts by weight of a vinyl chloride polymer having not less than 70% by weight of vinyl chloride units and (2) from 50 to 3 parts of a graft polymer comprising (a) from 20 to 80 parts by weight of a backbone copolymer having units of an alkyl acrylate and units of at least one (meth)allyl carboxylate of the formula wherein X is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a halogen atom or -CH 2 COOY and Y is -CH 2 -CH = CH 2 or -CH 2 -C(CH 3 ) = CH 2 and (b) from 80 to 20 parts of monomers grafted thereon, the graft monomers comprising from 10 to 50% by weight of at least one vinylic cyanide and 90 to 50% of at least one alkyl methacrylate, optionally with from 0 to 20% of at least one monomer copolymerizable therewith. Examples are given in which a butyl acrylate/allyl methacrylate copolymer grafted with acrylonitrile and methyl methacrylate is blended with polyvinyl chloride.</p> |
