Towable body for the collection of oil from the surface of the sea by being towed on the surface of the sea. The body is elastically accomodating relative to the surface of the sea both in length and breadth in order to be adapted to the movement of the sea and has significant limits of length and breadth in order to form a large contact surface with the surface of the sea. With the body the aim is to lead an oil layer along its under side from a front edge portion (15) just in the surface of the sea to a rear edge portion (16) in a level below the surface of the sea, to a reduced pressure zone at the rear edge of the body. By means of different bending of the oil particles relative to the water particles at said reduced pressure zone oil can be collected separately from the water in a pocket forming at the rear edge of the body, that is to say at the obliquely upwardly and forwardly extending surface between a U-shaped or V-shaped lower rear edge (16) and a correspondingly formed, withdrawn upper rear edge (17). The body is shown in the form of cloth material which is braced on the upper side by means of "sausage-like" inflatable bracing portions. On the underside the cloth material can extend laterally graduated to form longitudinal, strip-forming guide surfaces. |
