A die-set for forming a sheetdisc 62, Fig. 5, comprises upper and lower dies 12, 14, formers 28, 28a movable along the dies, and means 44, 44a on the dies for moving the formers in response to relative axial movement of the dies. The upper formers 28a are located between the lower formers 28 and each slides in a radial, dovetail-groove 26, Fig. 4, in the die-plates 22, 22a. Springs 30, 30a bias the formers outwardly against stops 38, and the upper die is guided for movement towards the lower die by a central post 24. Opposite the formers are cams 44, 44a which engage corners 48, 48a on the formers as the upper die is lowered. This moves the formers inwardly, contracting the blank D as it is formed. Parallel convolutions may be produced, or a combination of radial and parallel convolutions.
