The unit is for generating power using the drop-down gradient of a stream. It comprises a pipe which extends from an upstream high point and is connected to the lower end of a vertical tube arranged downstream. At the upper end of this tube, the water rising in this overflows via a diverging tube section and successively runs over a series of bladed rotors arranged one above the other in a partitioned chamber. The rotor shafts are coupled to one or more generators via transmissions. The generator(s) may be arranged on a platform above the rotors.
