Flat heating element - has resistance wire formed into meander and sandwiched between two insulating webs

The heating element consists of a meandering resistance heating wire sandwiched between two insulating webs. A device is used to form the wire (1) into a meander shape. One loop of the meander is formed per stroke of the device. The two webs (7,8) are conveyed from two drums, one above and the other below the meandering wire, towards the wire and pass through the gap between two parallel rollers (11,12). When one batch of meanders has been formed, this batch or unit is carried between the rollers where the webs are applied to it. The next unit is then formed and treated in the same manner. The units are separated by cutting.
