The boxes are arranged one above the other in a chessboard pattern, permitting vegetation growth and secured against mutual displacement by form-locking connecting elements, in a support wall for retaining wall or bank made from prefabricated components. The connecting elements (14) are in the form of plug connections, pref. with at least two plugging recesses (8,9) for each in the top edge of the box (1). Connecting elements' heads can be in block form, while feet (15) are lugs, pref. permitting insertion in the recesses at varying angles. This allows components to be universally applicable.
