A barking drum for tumbling barking of short wood has an end face 5 at its discharge end. The end face 5 has a discharge opening 6 and there are elements 5, 20, 21 for shifting the discharge opening between a first position, in which at least the main portion of the discharge opening lies on one side of a vertical plane through the centre axis of the drum and a second position in which at least the main portion of the discharge opening 6 lies on the opposite side of the vertical plane. The drive arrangement 15, 17 for the drum is arranged to impart a rotation to the drum in one or other direction depending on the position of the discharge opening 6. Elements 5, 20, 21 are further arranged to shift the opening 6 into a third, essentially central position at the lower portion of the drum for free discharging of the short wood. <IMAGE> |
