The invention relates to a process for making the slag, which arises in certain steps of steel production, for example in desulphurisation, in the solid state with a high dust content and which is moistened with water to prevent dust emissions, more rapidly re-usable in the metallurgical process. In the solution according to the invention, the moistened slag is mixed with dry, fine lumps of raw materials for the steel production. The mixture should here preferably be carried out by layering or bedding the moistened slag and the dry raw materials. The dry, fine lumps of raw materials can be metallurgical residues, especially converter slag. The dry raw materials absorb a part of the moisture content of the moistened slag, so that the drying time of the slag is considerably shortened.
