The plug-in unit consists of a printed circuit board (1) carrying the electronic components, and having plug-in contacts (3) along one edge, the contact pins themselves (3') being connected via wires (4) to the conductor strips on the underside of the P.C.B.(1). A metal carrier plate (6) is fixed to the P.C.B.(1) by screws (5), the gap between the two being such that there is a clearance between the soldered connections (2) of each component below the P.C.B. (1) and the plate (6). This gap is maintained by a closed frame (8) running round the periphery of the carrier plate (6). The space between the carrier plate (6) and the P.C.B.(1) is then filled with a heat conducting substance which is also electrically insulating. This allows heat to be conducted away from the components mounted on the P.C.B. (1) via their underside connections and printed circuit conductors.
