Improvements to the processes for agglomerating a nut-shaped mixture of ore and fuel in an agglomeration plant on a continuous line. Without ignition of the fuel, the mixture is almost instantaneously preheated throughout its thickness to a temperature above 300 DEG C by drawing gases heated to a temperature of at least 700 DEG C through the surface of the ramp formed by the nuts spilling over from the charging hopper, the temperature of the drawn gases and the rate of spillage of the nuts being controlled so that the said nuts are dried, hardened and preheated almost instantaneously while they roll out onto the surface of the ramp and without the fuel contained having the time to ignite. The invention applies especially to the agglomeration of iron ore.

|
