A composite papermakers felt made up of a textile base layer (12) and an upper layer (14) of a polymeric resin foam is provided. The foam consists of strips laid side by side with the lengthwise direction of the strips fixed at an angle to the direction of both the machine direction and the cross-machine direction yarns in the base layer. The felt is useful in the wet press section of a papermaking machine. A method of manufacturing the felt of the invention is also described. |
