A process for the production of carbon-containing materials comprises pyrolysing aromatic organic compounds and collecting carbon- containing reaction products of the pyrolysis. The improvement resides in using aromatic organic compounds having fused aromatic rings which form free radicals at the peri positions, for example, by elimination of a stable inorganic gas. The products of the pyrolysis include electrically conductive inert films. |
