PURPOSE:To obtain genuine ethanol of stable quality with a small quantity of heat, by distilling a fermentation liquid containing ethanol with a plurality of distillation columns continuously. CONSTITUTION:A fermentation liquid (unrefined sake) containing ethanol is passed through heat exchangers (a) and (b) to a distillation column I, heated and separated into a volatile content and a waste. The resultant volatile content in a vapor state is introduced into the bottom of a distillation column II, and a reflux liquid from the bottom of the column II is returned to the top of the column I by a pump (c). A high-boiling substance and water are separated from the intermediate plate of the column II, and a distillate from the top plate is completely condensed in the heat exchanger (a) and a total condenser (d). The resultant condensate is partly introduced into the intermediate plate of a distillation column III, and a low-boiling distillate separated from the top of the column III is totally condensed in a condenser (g) and returned to the top of the column III. A mixture of water with ethanol and a small amount of a low-boiling distillate is separated from the bottom and introduced into a distillation column IV, and the ethanol distillate is recovered from the top of the column IV. A waste liquor discharged from the bottom is partly used for adding water to the column III. |
