A process for increasing production in meat-producing, egg-laying or milk-producing animals comprising feeding a compound of the formula: <IMAGE> Formula I wherein R is a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, R5, <IMAGE> wherein R5 is alkyl of from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, inclusive, including isomeric forms thereof, alkenyl of from 2 to 8 carbon atoms, inclusive, including isomerici forms thereof, cycloalkyl of from 3 to 7 carabon atoms; or lower acyl wherein acyl is up to and including 5 carbon atoms; R1 is a member selected from the group consisting of R5 and <IMAGE> wherein R6 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, <IMAGE> or acyl wherein acyl is up to and including 5 carbon atoms; R2 is a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, R5, bromo of chloro; R3 and R4 are the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, provided that R3 and R4 are not both hydrogen, R5, cycloalkyl of from 3 to 8 carbon atoms, alkyl substituted cycloalkyl of the formula <IMAGE> wherein n is an integer of from 2 to 7, inclusive and R7 is a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl of from 1 to 5 carbon atoms, inclusive, including isomeric forms thereof; alkenyl of from 2 to 8 carbon atoms, inclusive, including isomeric forms thereof, aralkyl wherein Ar is a member selected from the group consisting of phenyl, substituted phenyl wherein 1 or 2 hydrogens are replaced with chlorine, fluorine, bromine, iodine, R5, -OR5, or -CF3 and the substituents can be the same or different, and alkyl is from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, inclusive, including isomeric forms thereof, and R3 and R4 taken together with -N< is a heterocyclic moiety of from 4 to 8, inclusive, ring atoms and 1 or 2 hetero atoms selected from the group consisting of nitrogen, oxygen or sulfur or a substituted heterocyclic moiety wherein 0, 1, 2 or 3 of the carbon atoms of the heterocycle are substituted with R5 in combination with a nutrient animal feed.
