PURPOSE:To make it possible to grind a difficultly grindable material such as a super-high alloy or cermet in a nearly dry state, by employing a normally solid polyethylene glycol as a grinding aid. CONSTITUTION:A normally solid polyethylene glycol, average MW about 1,000, is applied as a grinding aid to at least the interface between a grinding stone and a material to be ground. Application of the above aid can be made by (A) coating the surface of a grinding stone and/or the surface of a material to be ground, with the polyethylene glycol or (B) melting the polyethylene glycol to liquefy, filling the pore of the grinding stone with the liquid with the aid of a vacuum and solidifying the filled polyethylene glycol at room temperature. |
