Liquid sample container - with mechanically readable identification tab for automatic analyzer

A one-piece plastic container for liquid samples for an automatic analyzer has an inverted L-tab on which a binary code identifies the sample. The cylindrical container has a shoulder to locate it in holes in a turntable of the analyzer, and two ribs on the inside of the tab which fit around the peripheral rim of the turntable. This aligns the tab for identification by a photoelectric cell at the input of a printer for the analysis recorder.
