The skin retractor is for use during operations, having a hook portion and a spring portion. The spring portion comprises an elastic ring (4), coupled by a metal ring (5) to the eye (3) of the hook (1). The metal ring can be a double one, of the key-ring type, and the elastic ring can be roughly 8mm. wide and 10cm. long when laid flat. It can be attached to a further elastic ring. The design allows rapid securing in position by means of a clip to the operating cloth.
