PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst effective for purification of exhaust gases evolved from various household burners etc. by using the molding contg. calcium aluminate and montmorillonite as a carrier, and carrying catalyst metal or catalyst metal oxide thereon. CONSTITUTION:The molding contg. calcium aluminate represented by alumina cement and the montmorillonite expressed by the formula I (in the formula, M is selected from Na, K, H, Li, Ca, Mg) is as a carrier and catalyst metal or catalyst metal oxide is carried on this, whereby the catalyst body for purification of gases is obtained. Platinum group metals are suited for the catalyst metal, and chloride is adequate as their salt, and the amount of carrying the same is 0.001-0.1wt%. iron group elements, carbon group elements, and the like are also usable, besides the platinum group metals. As a method of carrying the catalyst, there is a method of heat-treating the carrier after a catalyst metal salt soln. is stuck on the carrier by a coating or impregnation method. |
