The appts. has a dished microwave reflector (24) having two focus points (f1,f2) with a micro wave antenna (26) at one focus (f2). The patient is supported in a manner such that the part of the body being examined or treated is at the other focus point (f1). The micro wave antenna (26) is either connected to a micro wave source for providing the treatment radiation, or to a temp. measuring device for measuring the internal temp. of the body tissue, for tunor detection. Pref. the reflector (24) incorporates two light sources which provide two angled beams intersecting at the second focus (f1) to allow its visual alignment with the required area of the body. The appts. is used for cancer detection or treatment.
