<p>The piercing machine with its piercing tool raised vertically against a workpiece on a fixed work table above, can combine this movement with a rotary movement. A variable speed drive is used for the rotary movement, and the vertical movement can be carried out by an hydraulic cylinder with the rotary piston inside. The body of the tool can also act as the cylinder so that a guide system is eliminated. In an alternative design, the cylinder carries external teeth which mesh with a rotating toothed segment, rotated about an axis by an arm connected to a hydraulic cylinder at right angles to the axis of the tool. The tool can have a tubular body with telescopic sections with openings for entry of hydraulic oil.</p> |
