<p>PURPOSE:To stabilize the air pressure distribution near the rotating magnetic head and to possibly reduce the amount of floating of magnetic tape, by providing a projection near the position where a rotating magnetic head is fitted on a rotor circumference. CONSTITUTION:On the circumference of a rotor 3 rotating through support between up and down mandrels 1, 2, a rotating magnetic head 4 is projected for mounting, and a projection member 5 is provided at the both sides of the head 4. The circumference of a rotor 3 is provided with an opening to blow out air to obtain the air bearing operation, and a magnetic tape 6 wound in spiral is floated from the rotor 3 for running. By suitably determining the shape, size and position of a projection member 5, the air pressure made at the head 4 is interferred with the pressure made at the member 5 to restrict the amplitude of magnetic tape 6 and to stabilize the floating characteristics.</p> |
