<p>The brake uses an hydraulic ram for radial convergence of friction pads (13B) onto the peripheral axial flange (10) of a revolving disc (11). A cast caliper (14) locates both ram and friction pads, secured by an axle bolt (31) through the legs (25) of a fixed 'U' shaped support (12). A spacer sleeve (32) locates the bolt, being a sliding fit in holes (36) in the laminar rectangular slides (35). Shallow rectangular section grooves (39,40) in the lateral caliper (14) face locate slides (35), guiding of the caliper radially. Retaining rings (46) and spring washers (45) press the slides into the caliper, and a rough cast radially elongated caliper window (34) locates the intervening length of axle (31).</p> |
