The braced portal frame may be incorporated in the superstructure of an industrial shed, using inverted knee braces (3) to provide structural continuity at corners whilst obviating reductions in head room (H). The perimeter column (1) cantilevers above its intersection with the beam (2), its top end being tied back to the beam by a brace. A multi-bay shed may use reversed roof falls on succeeding bays (2,2a), with conventional double knee braces at ridge columns, and with double inverted knee braces at trough columns. Alternatively trough or ridge columns may be omitted with a stub-post (5) and braces (4) providing the joint.
|
