<p>A circular knitting machine for the prodn. of elastic stockings, having a positive-feed device for at least one elastic yarn and a pawl-and-ratchet-operated control drum, has a computer-controlled drive mechanism which regulates the speed of the positive-feed device and the movement of the control drum in relation to the speed of the revolving cylinder. The computer receives input signals from a revolution-counter monitoring the knitting cylinder, and outputs synchronised control signals to at least one step motor driving the feed device and the control drum according to a pre-programmed relation. This arrangement replaces a proportion of the complicated mechanical controls with a simplified electronic system, which can be added to existing machines without requiring substantial machine modifications.</p> |
