The mechanism is intended for converting rotation (31) of a shaft (23) into an axial movement (32). It comprises a housing (1) containing a cylindrical outer track (28), an inner track (30) on the shaft, and rollers (9) which are in contact with either track and are carried (11,12) between two end rings (5,6) of a cage (2). The relative angular position of the latter is adjustable by a lever (17) to rotate a disc (13) coupled to one ring (6). The outer, or the inner track, is rotatably carried in the housing, or on the shaft, via a bearing (25-27). The rings are connected via spokes (8) with spring action to permit their relative angular rotation and thus position the roller axes (11) at an angle to the shaft.
