The open container is intended for transportation by a lorry. It has a support frame with flaps hinged at each container end, while the long sides are rigid. The frame has uprights to provide strength as well as mounting surfaces for stacking similar containers. The upper ends of the supports have attachment points for the chain slings of the skip lorry. The container is simple to make and can carry bulk cargo or stacked goods. It enables a simple skip lorry to be used for a self-loading system, while a number of similar containers are easily stacked.
