The locking arm for a window, door, flap etc. is moved by an operating handle (3) which can be swung over from a position pointing upwards to a position pointing downwards, describing a half circle. The operating handle is swung about a pivot axis (3a) adjacent to a parallel pivot axis (3b) formed by a spindle connecting it to a sliding arm (6) with another spindle (6a) connecting it to the next port (16) of the linkage controlling the locking member. Mounted on the outside surface of the next port is a leaf spring (10) which applies pressure against the sliding arm, acting against it as it is swung outwards about the third spindle (6a). At a screwed connection (5) between portions of the sliding arm is incorporated a helical spring (8) which applies axial pressure.
