A box made of cardboard, corrugated board, or other sheetlike material comprises a caselike body (40) and a cover (41). The body (40) has a front opening (42) and the cover (41) is bendable over a hinge line for opening and closing the box (10). Before the box (10) is opened for the first time the cover (41) is locked to the body (40) by means of portions (29, 30) cut to define the opening (42) which are attached to the cover (41) and body (40) respectively and initially united along a perforated tear line.
