Threading staff for laying yarns in guides, detectors, etc. which are outside the normal reach of a machine operative comprises a simple rod with a gripping device at one end which lightly grasps the yarn to be carried into the remote guide. The gripping device consists of a tightly-wound coil of metallic wire or plastic monofilament which is bent into a curce, both ends of the coil being affixed alongside e each other on the end of the rod. The other end of the rod may be fitted with a cup-shaped grip having a series of internal ribs to engage control knobs of tensioning devices, feed devices, etc. similarly outside the reach of the operative. The staff has a positive grip on the yarn which is, however, easily released when required. The knob-operating grip makes the use of steps unnecessary for operation of aawkwardly-placed controls.
|
