<p>The heater consists of a number of nozzles which can be individually adjusted on a ring holder, and each nozzle is fed with a fuel gas and oxygen. In the pref. heater, nozzles are joined to each other via plastically-deformable tubes, possibly with the aid of a single supporting ring. Each tube is pref. fitted with a valve near each nozzle. Tubes, are pref. bent to form two ring manifolds used as supports for nozzles and each manifold has one inlet pipe for fuel gas and oxygen respectively. Nozzles are pref. scrap burners previously used for flame cutting. When molten steel is to flow from a tundish through a casting pipe into a mould, the bottom end of the pipe may become blocked by solidified steel. The heater is used to preheat the bottom end of the casting pipe, so no solidification of the steel occurs.</p> |
