A non-contact optical sensing system is used to obtain information recorded on a disc. The disc (I) is scanned by a sensor system (Ab) that moves radially as the disc rotates. The generated signal (Sig) is amplified before being transmitted to a signal processing stage (SB) that has a low pass filter (TP1) operating through a smoothing stage (Bew). A band pass (BP) and band blocking stage (BS) are selectively switched through to a multiplexer (M) with two potentiometer setting (Pot 1, Pot 2). The multiplexer output is coupled to a display (OS) stage (DE).
