PURPOSE:To easily remove the coating of arbitrary length by heating and melting the coating of an optical fiber extending over prescribed length by a plate- like heater. CONSTITUTION:When a heater 5 is brought into contact with a coated optical fiber 6 which is coated an optical fiber 1 with the coating 2, and it is heated and melted, the melted coating 9 adheres to the heater 5 and removed from the surface of the optical fiber. By changing the contact length with the heater, its coating can be removed simply in a short time in an arbitrary position by arbitrary length without damaging the optical fiber. |
