<p>PURPOSE:To calculate easily a bending stress and deflection acting upon the beam, by inserting a slide scale indicating the size of the span and form indexes between two fixed scales indicating the load and the symbol and the size of the cross-section of the beam material respectively. CONSTITUTION:The slidable slide scale is incorporated between two fixed sclaes. The W scale which indicates the load acting upon the beam is marked on the lower fixed scale, and in this W scale, the scale equation is expressed by l=1/3Mlogx. The Z scale indicating the section coefficient of the beam is marked with the scale equation l=mulogx on the upper fixed scale, and in respective scales, the symbol and the size of the cross-sectional shape of the beam having a presribed section coefficient are marked also. Meanwhile, the L scale indicating the size of the span is marked with l=1/3mulog10/x is marked in the lower part of the slide scale, and the K scale indicating form indexes (a)-(j) is marked in the upper part. In case that this slide rule is used to select the material, W of the W scale and L of the L scale are matched to each other; and, for example, in case of the simple beam center centralized load, the graduation on the Z scale indicated by the arrow of symbol (c) is read.</p> |
