The screw-jack actuated lift valve may be incorporated in domestic water taps, the flow being controlled by the axial displacement of a conical plug (14) nto a pipe mouth (20) of reciprocal form. A valve body block (6) is immobilised in the tap casing (26), having a vertical axial bore for the screw (4) and the actuating spindle (2). The spindle (2) and screw (4) combination is longer than the block, projecting overhead to be surmounted by a hand wheel, and projecting below in the screw (4) form to terminate in a co-axial truncated conical plug (14). The lesser face (16) of the plug leads, and the screw (4) thread enmeshes with the body thread over the entire range of plug movement. To curtail or reduce the through flow, the plug (14) enters the open end of a fixed co-axial inlet pipe (18), the terminal bore zones (20) of the pipe having the inverse conicity to that of the plug. |
