PURPOSE:To shorten the time needed for one distance measurement by using the direct phase detecting method for phase detection of distance measurement tone received at a fixed station. CONSTITUTION:At the fixed station, the echo signal from the transmitter 13 of a target station is detected by a receiver 15 and the distance measurement tone signal and a series PCM signal is separated, each then supplied to a direct phase detector 17 and a PCM demodulator 18. The demodulator 18 receives the PCM signal and at the same time transmits the reception timing signal of the frame synchronous pattern to a distance calculator 4. And the detector 17 measures the phase difference theta between the transmitted distance measurement tone and the received distance measurement tone from the generator 1 by direct phase detecting method and the obtained data on phase difference are transmitted to a calculator 4. The distance to the target station is calculated by the calculator 4. |
