The invention relates to a solar cell generator in which the cells, which are electrically connected to one another, are combined to form one plate in a carrier. The cells are constructed with two ends and are located between two transparent plates held by the carrier so that light can be incident on both ends of the cells. Instead of one transparent plate, a reflecting plate or a reflecting store can also be provided which throws reflected light onto the cells. The efficiency of such a solar cell generator is improved in comparison with a solar cell generator having cells which are only light-receptive from one side.
