PURPOSE:To produce a thin-film magnetic head, by setting together a number of slider blocks or dummy blocks to protect the thin-film magnetic head pattern and then giving an ion etching to the floating surface of the thin-film magnetic head slider block. CONSTITUTION:In the production of a thin-film magnetic head which is used for the recording and reproduction of the information by a magnetic disk device or the like, the thin-film head pattern 2 is formed at the block 1 along with the protective film 3 formed at the area of the pattern 2. The cover glass 4 is provided to protect the pattern 2 when the block is cut out. In such way, the block 1 containing the pattern 2 is put together in plural numbers. As a result, the mask material is prevented from flowing into the pattern 2 and also prevented from being etched in the ion etching. |
