<p>PURPOSE:To prevent air pollution by the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine, by applying treatment to the exhaust gas by causing swirl of exhaust gas in an exhaust-gas separating muffler, and separating the exhaust gas into gas containing black smoke, steam, malodor, CO, carbon particles having a high mass, fire sparks, etc. and remaining gas not containing them. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine 1 is carried through exhaust pipe 9 into a recombustor 10, and after passing through the inside of a sleeve 4 and the outside of a sleeve 3, it is carried via an intermediate exhaust pipe 11 into an exhaust-gas separating muffler 12. In the muffler 12, exhaust gas is swirled by exhaust-gas swirling guide plates 16 which are disposed radially in a sleeve 15, and the swirl of exhaust gas is promoted by guide plates 17. Resultantly, steam, black smoke, malodor, carbon particles having a high mass, fire sparks, etc. contained in the exhaust gas are separated centrifugally. The gas (b) thus separated is made to flow in the direction shown by arrows in the drawing and carried via a suction pipe 7 and an air pump 6 into a recombusting pipe 5 for recombustion of the same. On the other hand, remaining gas a is separated further in a sleeve 29, and only clean gas a' is discharged to the outside from an exhaust pipe 13.</p> |
