<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the catalyst excellent in catalytic properties, a useful life and mechanical strength as the carbon monoxide oxidation catalyst by a method wherein zinc oxide and a clay mineral are added to manganese oxide and, thereafter, the resulting compound is molded and baked. CONSTITUTION:As the catalyst oxidizing carbon monoxide contained in an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine or a heating system, the compound comprising 30wt% or less of zinc oxide, 2-40wt% of the clay mineral and the remainder of manganese oxide is sufficiently milled and mixed. Thereafter, said compound is molded into an optional shape and baked by heating. The catalyst produced as described above is excellent in a useful life, heat resistance and mechanical strength as well as inexpensive.</p> |
