The adjustable brake lever is for a drum brake on a tackle actuated by separate ropes for parking and service use. The ropes (23,24) act on the lever (10) via an adjusting member (16) pivoting on this lever, and lockable by an adjusting screw (17) in opposition to the force exerted by them. A recess can be provided in the lever for the adjusting screw, and the member can be of U-section, fitting round the lever, and with an anchor plate for the ropes at its free end, the ropes passing through drillings in the plate and being free to slide in them away from the tension direction.
